No automatic error recovery is incorporated in PCI-DDC.
Nevertheless, there is several error detection mechanisms detailed in the next
chapter (page ):
In all cases except for the RCUBE errors, PCI-DDC stops what it is doing,
notifies the processor by an interrupt and waits for an acknowledge.
For the RCUBE errors, PCI-DDC just asserts an interrupt.
The error detection avoids to write corrupted data in remote memory and prevents from a local or remote system crash. The software must decide if an error is recoverable or if a global reset is needed. Every error may be hidden with a mask bit, whenever the software does not want to be informed. However, whenever masked errors occur, they are detected and reported in the error register. The difference concerns the interrupt line assertion.
