Header deletion mode

Each output link of RCUBE can be configured to implement a header discarding mechanism called header deletion mode. When an output link is configured in that mode, it discards the entire header whatever its length before transmitting the packet. Then, the following character(s) become(s) the new header.
This capability overcomes the addressing space limitation due to the finite header length. For example, a first header is used to route a packet across a network towards a sub-network. After the first header has been discarded, the second header gives the device address in the sub-network. It is an easy way to route packets in a hierarchical composition of networks and makes possible the labelling of huge networks.
