Message Identifier (MI)

Each message is identified by a number called Message Identifier (MI), usually allocated by the operating system. All pages associated to the same message must have the same MI. The MI is used as an index by PCI-DDC to reconstruct messages in the remote memory and detect message completion. For that reason, PCI-DDC should not receive two messages at the same time with the same MI. The MI allocation is done by software and must respect the unicity principle for all nodes in the network. However, few types of message have not this constraints (see page [*]).
